About Perry
Perry Coolbaugh opened BFC Mixed Martial Arts in the fall of 2020. He is a Pennsylvania native with over 25 years of martial arts experience. Throughout his life, he has had extensive experience training and competing in; Folkstyle (D1 experience), Freestyle, Greco-Roman wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (brown belt under Tom DeBlass), Judo and Catch Wrestling/no gi submission grappling. Additionally, he also has years of training in; Tang Soo Do Karate (black belt), Muay Thai kickboxing, Dutch kickboxing and American boxing. While living in North Carolina, Perry became the head wrestling coach at American Top Team in Asheville and head Grappling coach/cornerman for pro MMA fighter Shonte “Shyne” Barnes (6-1-1). As a coach, Perry has helped blend his experience in these styles into effective fighting techniques both in the cage and for self-defense. With all of this experience, he brings a highly technical, yet fun loving approach to the sport and to his coaching.
Perry is a Marine Corps Veteran having served as an infantryman from 2004-2008 (honorably discharged), completing three foreign deployments as an infantry team leader and earning the rank of Corporal. After the Marines, Perry obtained a BA from The Ohio State University (2012) and his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Widener University Delaware Law School (2015).
